In recent days, the internet has been flooded with information that “verifies” Barak Obama as the antichrist. Could he be the one?
After all, the Bible says that the Antichrist will arise from nowhere to worldwide prominence. Just a few years ago, Obama was a community organizer (whatever that is!) in Chicago. Today he is President of the United States (a testimony to the greatness of opportunity we have in the USA.)
The Bible also says that the Antichrist will gain power with “flattery and intrigue” (Daniel 11:21) and with “words as smooth as butter” (Psalm 55:21). Barak Obama has the gift of flattery and intrigue, and the ability to speak smooth-as-butter words.
Further, this video suggests that Jesus spoke a word of warning when He said “I was watching Satan fall like lightning from heaven” in Luke 10:18.
Need even more evidence? This website claims that the lottery number (666) in Illinois on the day of Obama’s election is conclusive proof that he is the Antichrist.
In fact, search the web or YouTube for information about Obama as the antichrist and you will be flooded with “evidence” of every kind.
So, should Christians cower in fear, have Obama arrested, develop militias, or march in protest—all suggestions given by various groups?
In a word: no!
While Obama has characteristics and policies that, in my opinion, are “anti-christ,” he does not fit the definition of “The Antichrist.” In fact, the Antichrist will not be revealed until a future date (see 2 Thes. 2:7), so almost any speculation about the personal identity of the antichrist is just that—speculation.
Rather than focus on personal identity, we should learn the origin, character, and plot of the antichrist and his reign. When we do so, we find that the Antichrist…
- · Rises out of the remains of the Roman Empire.
- · Is Jewish.
- · Will be a ruler of a country in the old Assyrian empire.
- · Will establish peace in the Middle-East.
- · Will ultimately control the world’s economy, spirituality, and political system more than any man who has ever lived.
If you are a believer, then you will be one who will be “caught up…in the air” (1 Thes. 4:17) prior to the time of revelation and reign of the rapture. If you are not a believer, today is the day to believe. The Bible says, “Whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed!” (Romans 9:33).
